Committees Description & Expectations
Committees are chaired or co-chaired by Board members who serve as liaison between the Board and the Committee. The West Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has six different teams working to further the Mission and Vision of the organization.
Amongst the committee Chair responsibilities are:
- Committee members recruitment
- Scheduling of meetings as needed
- Champion the work of the committee
- Work with the Executive Director on the implementation of the committee's work
- Follow up with committee members on their assigned responsibilities
- Develop monthly progress report to the Board and annual report
Ambassadors / Membership
The Membership committee is responsible for maintaining a close relationship with Chamber members; identifying and monitoring the needs of the membership and responding with solutions that will ensure satisfaction, member recruitment and retention, and return on member’s investment.
The committee works to maintain and improve relations with government representatives and elected officials, monitors upcoming issues or campaigns that may impact members and their businesses, and recommends and implements appropriate advocacy activity on behalf of Chamber members and the Hispanic business community.
The Education committee is responsible for identifying educational and training needs within the membership; develops relationships with existing organizations to implement joint training initiatives, and facilitates educational opportunities for our members.
The Events team plans and executes all Signature Events of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; Annual Awards Banquet, Golf Outing, Business Expo, Quarterly After-hours and collaborative events with other organizations. The committee identifies opportunities for new, innovative events to complement and increase networking amongst members of the Chamber.
Chaired by the chamber’s Treasurer, the committee oversees and reports the financial position of the organization and makes recommendations on membership dues structure, accounts receivable, accounting practices and tax issues. The committee also provides assistance in the development of cost/benefit analyses for new programs, services and sources of income.
The Marketing & communications team develops all marketing materials of the Hispanic Chamber such as newsletter, website, brochures, etc. Its members are charged with increasing Chamber awareness in the community by implementing the Hispanic Chamber “brand”.

Café con Leche Membership meetings are the third Thursday of every month from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m.
Join us at our next Hispanic Chamber After-hours on the fourth Thursday of every month at 5:30 p.m.
