    About Restorers
    The mission of Restorers is to show Christ’s love by promoting long-term sustainable change in families and neighborhood. We do this through unified committed relationships between community and church so that greater dignity and quality of life are achieved. Restorers’ programs include Hattie Beverly Tutoring, Summer Learning Academy, Robotics, Food Co-Op, English as a Second Language, Faith and Finances, and Restorers Business Partnership. Restorers is a member of the Christian Community Development Association and a local partner in Partners Worldwide’s global network.
    Why this position exists
    An important part of wholistic community development is the development of strong economic systems. Restorers serves a High Unemployment Community (HUC). One method of developing strong economic systems is to develop small and medium sized local businesses to add economic value and cash influx into a community by assisting businesses to grow and add jobs through their growth. The Strengthen Your Business Coordinator will work with the business owners, the Business Affiliate Team, Partners Worldwide, and other identified partners to support business growth and job development. The focus of Strengthen Your Business is (a) businesses located in or impacting the Restorers target area in SE Grand Rapids; (b) in existence at least two years; (c) seeking financial capital to grow. This position reports to the Executive Director of Restorers.

    Duties of the Strengthen Your Business (SYB) Coordinator:

     Provide development and implementation of SYB – a training, mentoring, and access to capital program rooted in biblical principles for business -- through evaluation in collaboration with partners
     Host, conduct and coordinate each SYB class
     Lead recruiting and follow-up/follow- thru
     Identify 10 businesses for each SYB class (2 in 2017); 20 in total
     Recruit Business Affiliate members (volunteers)
     Coordinate mentoring and project-specific connections between BA mentors and SYB businesses
     Coordinate Business Profiles for each business
     Be aware of and able to learn the resources and landscape of the business community in GR
     Assist in grant research for SYB and also Restorers’ Spring GR module
     Be familiar with, and make referrals to, Spring GR (based on assessment of each recruited business)
     Receive coaching from PW Partnership Manager to work successfully within PW Partnership Model Characteristics of Strengthen Your Business (SYB) Coordinator:
     Background in business; knows how to listen and assess needs of business and its owner
     Cultural and relational competence
     Takes initiative to build relationships in SE Grand Rapids and greater Grand Rapids
     Administrative competence including cloud-based tools (Google Drive, etc.)
     Works well within Restorers’ staff, volunteer and partner ecosystems
