    Job Description
    Disability Advocates of Kent County is seeking a Veteran Peer Support Specialist. This is a part time, 20 hour per week, non-exempt, position starting at a wage of approximately $15 hour with part time benefits. The Veteran Peer Support Specialist will provide career preparation and independent living
    services to veterans with disabilities as they work toward achieving their employment and independent living goals in coordination with the MRS and VA Counselors.

    Position Outcome
    This position is dedicated to providing resources and training to ensure the achievement of the
    individual plans as established with the MRS and VA staff and the employment and independent
    living goals of the customers.

    Education and Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in human services field or equivalent experience.
    • Four years’ experience in providing assistance to individuals and organizations on Independent
    Living, transition-to-work, or employment issues.
    • Knowledge of community resources in the Kent County as well as outlying areas.
    • Because this is a peer support position the candidate must be a veteran.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook and training and/or facilitation skills.

    Work Environment and Abilities
    The person in this position is expected to communicate with MRS staff, VA staff, Disability Advocates
    staff, assigned interns, volunteers, community partners and other outside entities to successfully
    perform functions of the job. This is a standard office environment. Extensive keyboard activity,
    telephone communication and attendance at meetings, presentations, and community outreach in
    and out of the office are expected. Self-identified mode of transportation is required.
