    Job Description
    Cherry Health Heart of the City Health Center is a federally qualified health center with a mission to improve the health and wellness of individuals by providing comprehensive primary and behavioral health care while encouraging access by those who are underserved. Working in an integrated team model, the LPN provides basic nursing care and performs supportive clerical tasks required to deliver primary care services to patients. A desire to work with an underserved patient population will be important. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible position working 40 hours per week. This position will rotate between our Westside Health Center and Heart of the City Health Center sites as needed. The schedule is typically between the hours of 8am-5pm, with one evening per week and rotating Saturdays.

    Requirements:
    • Must have an LPN license in the state of Michigan
    • Must have practical knowledge and understanding of nursing techniques, methods, and terminology and must be sensitive to the physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs of the clients
    • Must have Basic Life Support/CPR training
    • Bilingual in English/Spanish Required
    • Experience in a primary care or specialty care setting is preferred
     
    Responsibilities:
    • Manage clinic flow for providers and assist other staff as needed
    • Take vital signs, complete client complaint information, and communicate with provider as indicated
    • Prepare for and assist with examinations
    • Obtain lab specimens, perform tests, and document results
    • Order and schedule lab tests and distribute results to providers, laboratories, and medical records as directed
    • Carry out routine testing procedures, such as TB tests
    • Interpret and implement provider orders
    • Prepare charts for visits, file patient information, and assist with record room responsibilities
    • Schedule appointments, monitor supply inventory, and participate in continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities
    • Provide patient education regarding medications, health management, disease process, and disease prevention
