    Job Description
    Cherry Health is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with a mission to improve the health and wellness of individuals by providing comprehensive primary and behavioral health care while encouraging access by those who are underserved. Working in an integrated team model, the Medical Assistant (level I, II, or III) assists providers in the delivery of primary care services, and handles patient registration duties at the front desk. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible position working 40 hours per week. This position will rotate between our Westside Health Center and Heart of the City Health Center Pediatric sites as needed. The schedule is typically between the hours of 8am-5pm, with one evening per week and rotating Saturdays.

    Requirements:
    • Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program and/or obtained one of the following certifications: CMA through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or RMA through American Medical Technologists (AMT)
    • Must be able to perform routine health tasks and deal tactfully with patients undergoing treatment in stressful situations
    • Must be able to work effectively with professional and paraprofessional staff
    • 0-2 years previous medical assisting experience preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job listed above
    • Bilingual Spanish/English Required
    Responsibilities:
    • Greet patients, complete and verify forms, and direct patients to exam rooms
    • Follow rooming procedures including asking about recent ER/Hospital visits, taking vital signs and completing screening tests and health maintenance orders
    • Assist with examinations and procedures, and complete necessary cleanup
    • Implement provider orders such as immunizations, testing, obtaining lab specimens, and documenting results
    • Prepare specimens for transportation, completing necessary forms and arranging transport
    • Assist with incoming phone inquiries and carry out patient call backs as assigned
    • Manage clinic flow for assigned providers
    • Prepare charts for visits, file patient information, and assist with medical records duties
    • Perform other responsibilities as assigned
