    THE POSITION
    Opera Grand Rapids is looking for a highly organized, detailed, self-motivated, and driven Marketing director.
    This individual is responsible for developing and managing execution of the marketing strategy for the
    organization to achieve its ticket sales and development goals while expanding awareness of opera in West
    Michigan.

    Reporting to the Executive Director, the candidate will be a self-starter and be the main point of contact for
    outside marketing, advertising, and print vendor relationships. The individual will regularly engage with
    production and development staff as well as patrons at events. This position is responsible for managing an
    annual marketing budget to achieve short and long-term goals.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
     Creates, manages, coordinates, and executes all marketing strategies and budgets
     Implements tactical plans that meet and exceed the organization’s goals
     Carries out marketing functions in a manner consistent with the Opera Grand Rapids brand, to
    support, develop, and expand that brand
     Conceives, implements, and manages subscription and single ticket direct marketing mail and email
    marketing campaigns, from strategic and conceptual development through design, mailing and
    printing; Devises ticket pricing strategies and the creation of subscription ticket packages
     Provides support with writing, editing, and proofreading all marketing materials
     Manages and implements all sales campaigns, research, branding, advertising, group sales, program
    book ad sales, development of new audiences, and box office relations.
     Manages database and market research and interprets data for ongoing improvement/evolution of
    marketing plans
     Maintains website and social media profiles and ongoing plan
     Maintains strong and cooperative relationships with arts and tourism organizations
     Serves as the staff liaison to the Marketing Committee and attends full Board of Trustees meetings
    and other meetings as requested
     Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
     Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent
     Proven experience in marketing, ideally in performing arts or event-based marketing
     Excellent written and oral communication skills
     Strong writing and proofreading skills
     Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously without losing sight of the
    organization’s goals
     Creativity and out-of-the-box thinking
     Some evening and weekend hours are required during concert season
     Flexible and willing to help others in the office when necessary
     Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

    PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
     Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, InDesign
     Familiarity with the Grand Rapids and West Michigan market
